Tablet computers are being increasingly used in the workplace as replacements for more traditional technologies. One retail commodity that seems to be suffering is the cash register.
Thanks to a new app, called Point of Sale, shops have been ditching conventional payment methods in favour of cutting edge transactions. One advantage of using a tablet computer over a register is the ability to access extra information about products in a convenient fashion.
Toy store owner Raido Purge is one of the latest businessmen to start using apps over standard payment options. He commented: “Clients are really impressed when we walk up to them and basically show them right here and right now, this is your product, would you like some additional information, would you like to see a Youtube video about this product?”
Point of Sale has the ability to process payments, generate sales data, track stock, collect customer reports and suggest links through sites like Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, if a franchise is using the app they can check the stock of products in other branches of the store across the country.
The software was produced by technology company Erply and according to their founder, Kris Hiiemaa, the app is being downloaded 1,000 times a day. The first download for a store is free then there is a sliding charge for each new person after that.
