Yesterday saw the day that Windows 8 was officially signed off by Microsoft and released to the main PC manufacturers.
The new edition of Windows as been through a very long development and testing period, but is being released to manufacturers right on schedule. It will be available for the average user on 26th October, but Microsoft developers will be able to get their hands on a copy of the new operating system on 15th August, just a few weeks away.
Steven Sinofsky of the Windows Engineering Team published an article on the Microsoft Developers Network website announcing the launch to the company’s manufacturing partners. He also went into detail of the testing process for the software, where 16 million PC’s took part in the preview of the operating system.
Now the build of Windows 8 is complete, the company has started to activate other parts of the program, like the Windows Store (I wonder where this idea came from!). This will allow developers to submit their paid apps to the store ready for the launch.
Sinofsky was keen to add that Windows 8 for them will never be fully “complete”, as the company will continue to develop the system according to user feedback.
