Apple sends out invites for new press event

Following months and months of speculation Apple have sent out invites that state ‘Let’s talk iPhone’. It is still no entirely clear what the event is centered around and whether there will be any product launch at all. Many have speculated that the released of the new iPhone has been postponed slightly to encourage better sales for the iPad 2. Furethermore, whilst it is expected that a new iPhone will be launched at the event it is not clear whether it will be an iPhone 5 or a newer version of the iPhone 4.

The event is being held at the Apple headquarters in (the slightly humorously named) 1 Infinite Loop.  It is quite rare for individuals to be invited to these offices and the event should prove interesting for all those involved. It is expected that the new Apple product will hit the shelves around October 14.

There have been many hints that the new product will be an iPhone rather than an iPad or iPod. Firstly, Apple board member Al Gore slipped up recently and referred to ‘the new iPhones released next month’ at a press conference. Speaking about the expectations T3 editor Luke Peters commented: “Having seen first-hand how Apple packs its staff inside its stores for iPhone launches does suggest that whatever new product they announce  is imminent.”

The new release comes shortly after CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs announced his stepping down from his position. He will be replaced by new CEO Tim Cook who’s reputation might well be leveraged on this first highly critical release under his leadership.
